Case Description

The multi-rope friction hoisting system transmits power through the friction between wire ropes and the friction wheel lining. Unlike drum winders, its hoisting depth is not limited by rope storage capacity, making it the mainstream hoisting solution for shafts ranging from 300 to 1,600 meters in depth.

Based on installation configuration, it is divided into two types: tower-mounted and floor-mounted.

Tower-Mounted Arrangement

In the tower-mounted arrangement, the complete hoist is installed on the top floor of the shaft tower. Its advantages include: compact structure, space saving, elimination of the head sheave; all loads directed vertically downward, providing good tower stability; larger wrap angle, and wire ropes are protected from rain and snow. Disadvantages include longer construction time, higher cost, and lower earthquake resistance compared to the floor-mounted type. It is suitable for large new mine projects with limited surface space.

Floor-Mounted Arrangement

In the floor-mounted arrangement, the hoist is installed on the ground, while the shaft tower only supports the head sheaves. Its advantages include: lower construction cost with no expensive tower required, more manageable construction timeline and moderate initial investment, easier installation, and better seismic resistance. The disadvantage is the need for two guide sheaves (head sheaves), increasing equipment investment. It is commonly used in mine expansion and renovation projects.

Conveyance Selection

Multi-rope friction hoisting systems can use either cages or skips as conveyances. Cages are primarily used in auxiliary shafts for hoisting personnel, transporting materials and equipment, and handling waste rock. Skips are dedicated to high-capacity ore or coal transport in main shafts. Depending on specific mine requirements, a hybrid arrangement with both skip and cage as counterweights can also be adopted.

Hebi Wanfeng manufactures the JKM (tower-mounted) and JKMD (floor-mounted) series multi-rope friction mine hoists, which serve as core equipment for deep shaft main hoisting systems and are widely used in vertical shaft hoisting operations in coal, metal, and non-metal mines.
